A Veteran's Day Memorial

This Monday will be Veteran's Day. It's a time to reflect on the sacrifice and service of those defending our country. It's not an easy job. War is ugly, horrific, and dismal. However despite this major drawback we have those who are willing to step up and give their lives to protect the lives of others. We even have some of these heroes among the ranks at CPS.

We'd like to commemorate those who we know that served our nation and took on a task that carries such great risk so that we could enjoy the freedoms and relative peace we have today. If you have a loved one or relative that has served in the military, let them know how much you appreciated their service and their sacrifice. Feel free to post the names or memories of those you know who have chosen to make the ultimate sacrifice if called upon in the comments.

  2. My father could not serve because of a previous injury but he was the most patriotic man and taught us to love our country and those who serve it.
The two men I would like to mention are:

My gratitude to all who serve us past, present, and future.

  3. I have never met a more Patriotic and man of honor than Kyle Dillingham. He served our country for over 30 years in the Air Force and reached the highest rank that an enlisted soldier can achieve. He exemplifies what it means to be a soldier for our country. I want to thank Kyle for his service and for his time away from his family he dedicated to protecting us. Thank You to a great man that I would gladly stand next to in Battle.

Also, Happy Birthday on Veteran's Day to you too my friend.

  8. Thank you for your service Kyle. I would also like to mention both my Grandfathers, Chester Post and Joseph Yeoman. Both served our country in World War II. I never met Chester Post. He died when my Father was in High School. Joseph Yeoman is one of the greatest men I have ever known. I named my second son, Cooper Joseph Post, after him.

  9. I would like to mention the mothers and children that stay at home and try to carry on life as usual without their husband or father with them during their service. I know of their courage and strength and faith in God. In today's service many husbands and children remain at home during the absence of a mother or wife, as well. I also have been blessed by my grandfather, Max Hymas, and his service in the Pacific during WWII. We too named our 6th child after him.

    1. In my estimation, the willingness to give of one's life that another might live or live a life of liberty, is a beautiful representation of the true spirit of sacrifice.

  10. My family has been very committed to freedom through the years.
My two sons, Chris and Mike Young are currently in the Guard and have served in Iraq. My husband, Jay served in the Army and even got to be on guard duty on the East German wall before it came down. All 3 of my brothers have served in the military-Frank in the Army, Brad in the Marines and Kelly in the Air force, serving also in Desert Storm. My dad, Frank served in the Army and helped rebuild Korea with the Broken Heart unit. My grandfather, James Fackrell served in World War 1 along with many of my uncles. My heart is full as I think of these great people and their desire to keep us free!

  11. Oh goodness I know so many...My grandfather and his brothers fought in the Filipino army alongside the US during the Korean war. Then friends and family that have served through the years: MichaelJay Anthony Bolin, Joseph Elsberry, Aaron Stinson, Phillip Fuller, Natasha Kent, Rondee Heberger, EJ Valencia, Lou Perrin, The Vasquez family, Brandon Peterson, Angie Jackson, Steven Jackson, Armani Richard, Ari Norton, Zachary Dickson, Jonathan Dickson, Christina Schueler and Daniel Gonzalez. I have a soft spot when it comes to the military because so many people in my life are involved in protecting us and our freedom. To those 30+ people and their spouses, thank you for all you've done and are doing for us. God bless you all!

  13. I've made no secret that my father-in-law, Jerry, and I don't get along - at all! However, I very much appreciate what he did as a pilot in Vietnam - he earned his Purple Heart. My grandpa, Bill Barnett, was stationed at Pearl Harbor in WWII as a radio operator in the Navy when it was attacked. There are so many more I could mention - but I'd feel bad if missed anyone, so I will just say that I am so grateful for you all!

  14. This day is special for our family, my wife and I met while we both were stationed at FT. Campbell, KY. with the 5th Special Forces Group. We were both at Airborne school together, and yes I out ranked her! But, now she makes me stand at attention. Anyway, shout out to all the vets, past and present.

  15. My last boss had a son who served and he was killed, a few years ago, and she had given me some advice that she has had to live by to keep her going, "Plan something in advance that makes you happy and look forward to it." I will always remember her advice and how much courage it takes for a military mom!

My nephew has joined recently and I know he will do well.

I also grew up with a family that is the truest example of a patriotic all American family that you can get! Each of the boys joined the Air Force just like their father.

In my own family my father and father-in-law have both been in the Air Force.

I want to say thank you to the mothers and fathers who have raised these selfless children who have helped to make us a stronger country! It helps me sleep at night knowing my family is protected at all times.

    Thank you!

  16. I am so grateful for the choice the soldiers and their families make in protecting our way of life in this great country. Words cannot express my thanks for the sacrifices many of you experienced for me and my children. Friends and family past and present, thank you!!

A shout out to my younger brother, Sgt Jesse Campbell a medic in the Army spending some well earned downtime with his fairly new wife in Washington. And to my older brother Sgt Ben Campbell also a medic in the Army heading out for deployment to Afghanistan as we speak. In the words of ACDC, "for those about to rock, we salute you!"
