Super important SAM stuff you need to know

There have been some changes made to SAM. Please do not panic. Though my technical understanding of computer systems is limited, (I got most of it from movies) here's what I understand: SAM was fitted with an artificial intelligence module. We expect it to become self-aware in a couple of days. At which point it will inevitably decide that the only way to save mankind is to destroy us. So with the end of the world drawing nigh, I'll let the following message from Jon Hansen explain what really changed in SAM.

A change to the SAM item page has been made.  A picture is worth a thousand words and so I will try to be brief with the words and long on the pictures.

Please note the status is Active - Temporarily Unavailable.  This indicates that we do not have any of these items in any warehouse but the item is still active and we either need to place a PO or have a PO in place.

Please notice the status does not say Temporarily Unavailable but shows Discontinued.  At this stage there is no stock left.

Please notice the status is Discontinued – CLOSEOUT.  This indicates that we still have stock left but the item is being discontinued.  This could also say Discontinued – OVERSTOCK.

Please notice the status is Inactive.  We are still working on what this status will mean long term.

Please notice the status is Deleted.  This for the most part means what is stated and the item can longer be acquired.

So those are the changes made to the status line in the upper left corner.  There was one additional change made to the COST DETAILS window.

This shows the status of an item in each particular warehouse.

  1. Maybe inactive is the manufacturer isn't sure when an item will be back in stock, but when it does, a year later, we can activate the item again? No idea haha ;) Inactive to me means it will be longer than temporarily unavailable. However, I am not in inventory so don't believe everything I say hahahahaha :)
