On The Horizon

There are times in my life when I feel compelled to delve into the expressive and stirring aspects of humanity. Often these moments of soul searching and contemplation come while chaos and turmoil threateningly swirls about us. Vast changes have swept through CPS over the last few weeks and many of you may be seeking respite from the tumultuous transformation that has resulted. But we must hold on to the realization that all of the new positions, and all of the job-swapping, and all of the fantastic new people have made CPS a better place in spite of the rapid pace in which it has all happened. And so it is at these times that we turn to the finer arts of rhyme to sooth our souls and calm the mind.

Please indulge me while I wax poetic:

The dawning of a new day
Brings peace of better things
Hope is on the way
They come as angels without wings

Jerry Reutzel is coming soon
The Idaho Warehouse will not fuss
He is definitely not a baffoon
He is now one of us

There is more on the horizon
The changes will not stop here
I like buffalo and bison
We have nothing to fear

Amy Goode is starting too
Sales can stop and cheer
She is definitely not foo-foo
She is now your peer

So please extend a welcoming hand
And know that our team is better
They are now part of the band
Too bad we didn't get them a new sweater

With all good poetry there is interpretation. It is as follows:

First Stanza - Even though there a lot of changes there is also a lot of great new people and new opportunities for those moving to new positions. This stanza was not too cryptic or hard to translate. The simpleness of its statement was were we find the true beauty of its words. (That sounds ridiculous - even to me!)

Second Stanza - Jerry Reutzel starts Monday in the Idaho Warehouse. He comes to us with a large amount of working experience and he brings a lot of energy to the team. He will be working in the bulk warehouse as opposed to the picking area. Welcome Jerry.

Third Stanza - I would like to clarify this stanza from above . . . it should not be interpreted literally. I really have no fondness for buffaloes or bison. It is rather difficult coming up with a word that rhymes with horizon. Its much tougher than it looks.

Fourth Stanza - Amy Goode starts next Wednesday as a Sales Support Rep. We are very excited to have her and she has a lot of experience and passion in getting into the details and providing great support. Welcome Amy.

Fifth Stanza - This stanza was perhaps the most vague and hard to pull out the true meaning. But here it is - we are contemplating new CPS sweaters for a company uniform.

I kind of like this idea - as long as there is room on the sweaters for some animal art. The animal could be a mascot for CPS too, and now that I'm thinking about it, it might as well be the bison. I don't think it is coincidence that a sweater and a buffalo were mentioned in the same poem. We have to take advantage of this fortuitous discovery. We could buy a buffalo outfit so that Matt Lamm can stand out on the corner of the street and dance to bring in customers. This is sounding better by the minute.

Can you see how powerful poetry can be?  This particular passage had a lot of depth to it that you may not have noticed at first. But as we dig deeper we can find solutions and ideas that will benefit us in so many ways.

  1. All of the comments have been lost. I won't say who accidentally deleted them because I would hate for him to be publicly shamed. But since we have been rhyming in this post, let me just say that his name rhymes with Heth!

  2. That Heth is a joker. I hear he was working on his clicks per minute and slipped. Woops. Thankfully he was able to recover the blog.

  3. Seth, if you didn't agree with Keith's statement about not having animal printed sweaters you could have just talked to him calmly and rationally and I'm sure he would have made a compromise lol. And further more my welcome to Amy was so heart warming...I can't duplicate that, it wouldn't seem as sincere...gosh Seth! lol Welcome again to Amy! Glad to have you on the sales support team!
