Welcoming Tyler Craig

At the beginning of December 2010, we’ll be welcoming a new member into the CPS family. Tyler Craig will be coming on board as our Director of Accounting and member of senior management. Tyler is a certified public accountant (CPA) and will be joining us from the world’s largest professional services firm: PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).

Tyler has been auditing accounting processes and business practices of fortune 500 companies. Some of the companies that he has worked on are: Ball Corporation, NextMedia, Otologics, NetQuote, Kennecott Copper, DiamondWire, RNDC Distributing, and Dillard's. His expertise in refining business processes, monitoring accounting practices, familiarity with IRS and GAAP requirements, and general business sense will be invaluable to CPS as we navigate our growth in the future.

Tyler’s undergraduate and Master’s degrees in Accounting are from Brigham Young University. Some 1,557 accounting educators weighed in to pick BYU as the number one graduate accounting program in the 2008 survey administered by Public Accounting Report, an independent newsletter of the accounting profession.

Within six months of graduating, Tyler passed his CPA examinations, scoring in the high 90 percentile. This is no small feat, as over half of all applicants fail the CPA exam on their first try; and only 10% pass. The CPA exam consists of four parts: Auditing (4.5 hour test); Financial Accounting and Reporting (4 hour test); Regulation (3 hour test); and Business Environment (2.5 hour test). On some of these tests, applicants have 75 seconds per question. Sounds fun!

Sandy has graciously agreed to move to the position of Accounting Manager and will assist Tyler in accounting activities. Sandy was instrumental in bringing Tyler into the CPS family and has expressed confidence and excitement at having a CPA on board and looks forward to the insight that he will be able to provide. We express our gratitude and appreciation for Sandy and the entire Accounting Division for their efforts at keeping things running so smoothly.

Tyler Craig is married to Aimee Craig (formerly McCauley). He currently lives in Aurora, Colorado with his wife and daughter Talli (almost 2 years old). He enjoys mountain biking, waterskiing, most outdoor activities, and is obsessed with his 10-key.
