Jim's Going to Siberia!

Jim and Arlene McCauley have received their mission call and will be serving in the Novosibirsk, Russia Mission (think Siberia). They are to report to the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah on Monday, April 19, 2010. It is anticipated that they will be gone for 18 months. Jim's last day is yet to be determined.

Novosibirsk is Russia's third-largest city, after Moscow and Saint Petersburg, and the largest city of Siberia. The climate is sharply continental, with severely cold winters. Snow is frequent, falling on almost half of winter days, but individual snowfalls are usually light. Temperatures in summer are around 75 °F. Winter temperatures can fall as low as -40 °F. The difference between the highest and the lowest temperature is 158 °F. Most of the time the weather is sunny, with an average of 2,880 hours of sunshine per year, but heavy rain is possible in summer.
