I am actually a Chitwood kind of guy, although if you're a Johns; that is nothing to be ashamed of. And since "Johns" will get the bulk of the attention in this post - let me give just a moment to Chitwood. Jimmy was a huge part of the true story that was reenacted in the famous movie "Hoosiers". However, even with his critical role, he somehow managed to only get 4 lines in the entire movie. Since there are so few - I figured I'd give them to you here:
- "I got something to say." (Not much apparently - remember - only 4 lines in the whole movie)
- "I don't know if it will make a difference, but I figured its time for me to start playing ball."
- "I play, coach stays. He goes, I go."
- "I'll make it." (SPOILER ALERT: - He did!)
Which brings me to the other Jimmy - Jimmy Johns! Next Thursday we are going to be having Jimmy Johns for our luncheon. I love Jimmy Johns for an eerily similar reason that I like Chitwood. Less is more. They don't have all the fancy sauces and they don't have the huge marketing budget, but they do have some durn delicious sandwiches. And when you order what you want - just like Chitwood - They'll make it! Their sandwiches are simple but good and that is why we love the Jimmy s. We also love Scargie and are ever so grateful for you guys for organizing this little shindig.
But please be aware that you do need to order what you want before next Tuesday. Scargie has put the order forms in the break room and they need to be filled out or you don't eat. Be sure to select your chips on the order form. As for desert and drinks? We will have them but they don't need to be ordered beforehand.
A quick game of trivia - winner gets a gift card to Regal Theaters. First person to post the correct answer today at 12:00 PM (Mountain Time) will be the victor. What was the name of the play that allowed Jimmy Chitwood to get off the final shot for the win?
By the way - don't forget your jeans next Thursday.

DeletePICKET FENCE!!!
ReplyDeleteJust for the record, the picket fence was actually run in a previous game and another player took the shot. On Jimmie's final shot, they gave him the ball at the top of the key, and there was no play, he just went one on one, just sayin'. Great Movie!
ReplyDeleteSteven is correct. It was a simple stall and then shot at the buzzer. "the stall". Oh, someone wrote that above. Interesting.:)
