March Madness is stooopid! I never liked it to begin with and I think it is a foolish use of one's time. I am glad I didn't come in first because I wouldn't even want to be the winner of some lame game that doesn't adequately demonstrate true ability. I bet winning the CPS bracket brings as much satisfaction as beating a 3 year old at Candy Land. (Actually - Scratch that . . . I like beating my 3 year old at Candy Land.) It is obviously pure luck and whoever wins has no real skill.Don't get me wrong - I'm not the kind of guy to have sour grapes when things don't go my way - I just think that those who are the winners of the bracket might want to check themselves a little bit. The element of luck is so high when it comes to bracket busting that really the top 3 haven't demonstrated any meaningful intelligence by beating the rest of us. Its mostly luck.
I say mostly, because I don't want to completely discount the element of skill. For instance, Brenda Oneil's bracket is so bad that luck really had nothing to do with it? You know what I'm sayin'? What I'm getting at is this: I have done a pretty complex computation that can determine unequivocally which group of people can be congratulated and which are truly the losers. The top 3 will still be rewarded gift cards, they just need to remember that they basically won a lottery.
Here are the results of my study. Basically it takes great skill and accomplishment to find yourself in the top 35% of participants. If you can do that, than you are a very skilled individual. However, if you are in the bottom 65% of participants than you are probably not skilled. The order in which you fall within your respective % does not matter that much. For example - the top 14 participants are pretty much interchangeable in ability and genius based on the luck factor of the game. And the bottom 27 participants are also equal . . . except they have no geniousness. The only exception might be Brenda who definitely proved she does not have any skills whatsoever and is definitely in a league all her own.
All this intellectual discussion is confusing the bottom 65% so let me get on to some things they can understand. The following individuals are considered pretty much equal based on the scientific study performed above:
- NCAA QDP
- Mawg
- Chadroyce
- JDC15Idaho
- Teambellaindahouse
- Jefe
- Bob
- SlamminJammin
- Check urself b4 u wreck urself
- Blaketology
- Boom goes the Dynamite
- Kenyon Millet's Bracket
- The Wave Table
- I'm Your Huckleberry
You'll notice that I am one of the geniuses. Not surprising right?
Now for the 3 lucky geniuses that were barely better than the other top tier foes and therefor they have earned themselves gift cards:
- Jeff Rinker as NCAA QDP
- Duane Call as Mawg
- Jeff Cotterell as JDC15Idaho
You 3 were obviously luckier than the other 35%ers and will get your gift cards to show for it. Those of you who were horrible enough to be in the bottom 65% - just remember - there is always next year. Thanks for playin' and we will all look forward to March 2013.
I'm glad, Ben, that you are able to put aside all your hurt feelings and be civil. Being able to sweep under the rug the crushed dreams of finally accomplishing something worthwhile in this office (such as a winning NCAA Tourney Bracket) is admirable. That being said - BETTER LUCK NEXT YEAR!
ReplyDeleteI think I represent the other 65% when I say, "Ben is a dummy head!"
ReplyDeleteAre you sure that doesn't represent the other 95%?
DeleteI also think that I represent the other 65% when I say, "WE DEMAND EQUAL GIFT CARDS!"
ReplyDeleteI say we we "OCCUPY BEN'S OFFICE!"
ReplyDeleteOBO
ReplyDeleteFine, I'll go buy myself a gift card.
ReplyDeleteI hear that for the low price of only four $5 bills you can get a Target Gift Card worth $20!
DeleteI think I heard that too. This reminds me of the time that I put 37 cents in the Coin Star machine and it spit 32 cents out because there was a 5 cent fee. Definitely worth the 5 cents.
DeleteThanks for the fun and what do you mean LUCK?
ReplyDeleteI didn't win? sniff....sniff...I was so sure I was going to. =P
ReplyDeleteThis blog sounds like it was written by a looter.
ReplyDeleteCongrats Jeff on your win! As for you Ben, I am charging you with a 2 shot technical foul for your display of poor sportsmanship and comments towards me, which should be an automatic DQ from future participation of CPS bracketology. I would also like to give Tyler my thanks for making sure I was part of the CPS team this year and submitting a bracket that he thought was a sure fire win...but I would stick to fishing if I were you. As far as my skills Ben, all I can say is "one and done"!
ReplyDeleteBrenda, weren't you in 30th place or something last year? Maybe it be more accurate to say "30th and done"!
DeleteHey, what does last year have to do with my claim to fame for a win...cheap shot Steve!
DeleteBrenda, I wouldn't want Ben to ever be disqualified from participating in CPS bracketology because it is so fun watching him lose year after year.
ReplyDeleteYour right Jeff, seeing him agonize year after year over his bracket choices is revenge enough.
DeleteKeep those gloves up Brenda!
